Quality Assurance Program

FlawTech has a commitment to Quality Assurance that extends to all work performed by our staff and approved sub-contractors.

Our Quality Assurance Program is designed to be in accordance with ASME NQA-1 and appropriate criteria of 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 21, when the work being performed is designated as safety-related by the customer.
Although FlawTech was initially formed to primarily serve the Nuclear Power Industry with a focus on safety-related products, as our exposure to different industries has grown, so has the organization of our Quality Program.

FlawTech manufactures many products that are not designated as safety-related by the customer.  These products are manufactured as either “Production” or “Quality-Related” with each designation having its own applicable level of quality control.  Although these products are not manufactured implementing FlawTech’s full 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Program, they are manufactured in accordance with applicable Quality Assurance Procedures and related documents, such as manufacturing travelers, to ensure that the final product provided to the customer meets all applicable design specifications and associated requirements.

It is important to recognize that the mock-ups and training specimens manufactured by FlawTech are not for use as pressure boundary components.  Therefore, the procedures are “fit for purpose” and may differ from those used in the manufacturing of safety-related items in a nuclear plant. However, the intent is to replicate flaw and geometry responses to the fullest extent possible.

Quality Assurance plays an important role during the process of implanting known-size flaws in mock-ups that are intended to represent failed or potentially failed components in a nuclear power plant, or other critical components in any industrial setting.  Because the implanted flaws in our specimens will be used as the standard for measuring the capability of NDE personnel, who in turn will evaluate discontinuities in the field, FlawTech’s accuracy becomes a critical element of our manufacturing process.

Our employees are made aware of the critical importance of their work and the necessity for working in strict accordance to our procedures and our clients’ requirements.

FlawTech’s QA Program is audited every three years by NUPIC. We are also audited on a regular basis by many of our customers. Clients and customers are encouraged to make pre-arranged visits and/or audits to our offices or manufacturing facilities with regard to the quality assurance of our products.
